SOLO ART SHOW- Andrew Alan Matthews Salford and Manchester Nostalgia’
You’re warmly invited to the preview launch of Andrew Alan Matthews’ solo art show ‘Salford and Manchester Nostalgia’ on Monday 16th June at 7PM at Emma Evans Art Gallery.
Andrew grew up in Moss Side, Manchester, during the 1970s and ’80s, and his deep-rooted connection to the city continues to shape his work today. A proud Mancunian, Andrew’s art explores themes of nostalgia, resilience, and urban vibrancy through expressive cityscapes, characterful scenes, and evocative storytelling. His journey spans decades in the textile design industry and a degree in Textile Design from Manchester Metropolitan University, graduating in 1999. His first solo exhibition was held at Salford Museum and Art Gallery (2023–2024), where he was also their inaugural resident artist.
Currently the resident artist at Stanley Square in Sale, Andrew’s unique style is inspired by the free-flowing energy of L.S. Lowry, incorporating palette knife, ink, and layered brushwork. His subjects range from Manchester and Salford skylines to Moss Side nostalgia, landscapes, portraits, and illustrated children’s books. With a philosophy of transforming life’s stresses into positivity through creativity, Andrew’s work reflects beauty in imperfection and celebrates the spirit of place and people.
Join us to celebrate this powerful body of work and meet the artist in person. Expect storytelling, poetry, vibrant cityscapes, and an evening full of heart and local pride.
