Description
I had a dream that I painted this piece and as soon as I woke up, I ran straight to my studio to recreate it. The painting felt different from my usual work: calm, simple, and stripped back. Once I’d captured what I saw in my dream, I had to move the painting out of my studio so I wouldn’t be tempted to add anything more. When I finally stepped back to reflect — inhaling, exhaling — it transported me to a trip in Mexico. I could almost feel the early morning ocean air again. We were on a road trip when I received some good news, and a weight I’d carried for so long suddenly lifted. With a brew in hand, sand between my toes, and Will by my side, my shoulders finally dropped. I felt calm, content, happy, and free.
